	Wednesday, June 04, 2003 < comics/x > THE JOURNAL OF MODOK STUDIES #1 ($2.00 ppd from George Tarleton / Second Period Industries / PO Box 948 / Athens, GA / 30603 USA) If you were reading Marvel comics in the '70s, then you probably remember MODOK. Oh, come on, you know – the Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing. This new journal is an amusing study of said Mental Organism that features a hilarious description of MODOK's first appearance (in a 1967 battle with Captain America), Andrew Franklin's account of his being inducted into MODOK's army (funny stuff), a MODOK-centric interview with (and comic by) Stephen Notley of "Bob the Angry Flower" and art by Devlin Thompson, Patrick Dean, Johnny Ryan, Justin Colussy-Estes, Oraknabo, Drew Weing and Mandy Mastrovita. This thing is a lot of fun and a second volume is reportedly in the works.
