COMIC EFFECT #35
($3.50 from Jim Kingman / PO Box 2188 / Pasadena, CA / 91102-2188 USA. Web:
www.comiceffect.com)
Comic Effect collects articles and reviews by comics fans in which they discuss comics old and new (mostly old) and what those comics mean to them. The previous issue contained Mike Hall's look at the history of the Atlas Comics line of the '70s and the most interesting segment in
this issue is Murray Ward's letter citing a number of questionable facts from that article. This is followed by Hall's rebuttal and the whole thing has really gotten me curious about what exactly happened with that company. Also in this issue: Mike Hall's reminiscences of milestones in his comic-reading life and Jim Kingman on the connection between comics and music, plus reviews of
Superman #128 (1959),
Action Comics #1 (1938),
The Punisher #20 (2003),
Marvel Team-Up #75 (1978),
The Essential Iron Man,
The Demon #10 (1973) and the Comico run of
Justice Machine.
